The President of the Regional Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, visited the SDG Group offices in Logroño today, where he highlighted the importance of public-private collaboration and emphasized the company's strategic role in promoting the region's digital ecosystem.

Logroño, June 30, 2025 – SDG Group, a Data Science and Artificial Intelligence company, welcomed the President of the Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, to its facilities in Logroño. He was accompanied on this institutional visit by the Minister of Finance, Public Governance, Digital Society, and Spokesperson, Alfonso Domínguez, and the Director General for the Digital Society, Francisco Javier Ridruejo. The meeting with the team at the headquarters on Calle Sorzano 29 allowed them to learn first-hand about the company's consolidation project, which has announced an investment of €15 million until 2030 and aims to position La Rioja as a strategic hub for innovation and technological development. The president of the Government of La Rioja, Gonzalo Capellán, emphasized that "The project that SDG Group has promoted in La Rioja represents an exciting initiative with great potential, as it is shaping up to be a key strategic hub within the company. This region has a mature and essential industrial fabric, but we must set our sights on leadership in the digital economy. To achieve this, public-private collaboration is crucial in consolidating a robust digital ecosystem. In this context, the sustained growth of companies such as SDG Group, leaders in artificial intelligence and data, becomes a fundamental pillar for transforming the production model and positioning La Rioja at the forefront of technology."

SDG Rioja: conceived by Riojans, designed for La Rioja

Although SDG Group is a global company with more than 2,000 professionals in Europe, North America, Mexico, and the Middle East, the ‘SDG Rioja’ project is an initiative with a strong local character. In fact, it stems from the commitment of Riojan executives within the organization itself, who have decided to promote a long-term strategy in their homeland. Instead of replicating an external model, a specific proposal has been designed, conceived and led from La Rioja, which is supported by the high capabilities of the environment, active collaboration with the University of La Rioja and a clear focus on developing local talent.

"La Rioja is not a recent commitment for us, but a conviction that has been deeply rooted for some time. Although this office was opened eight years ago, the roots of this project go deeper: it stems from the commitment of senior managers within the company who have decided to return and invest in this region. Here, we connect La Rioja's talent with the real needs of the market. We firmly believe in the potential of La Rioja as a technological and industrial hub. So this investment is not just a business strategy, it is a shared vision of an innovative region with the ambition, capacity, and talent to lead the digital transformation at a national and international level," said Albert Mas, CEO of SDG Group.

More than 65 clients served from La Rioja and a new boost for the public sector

From its headquarters in Logroño, SDG Group has developed projects for more than 65 national and international clients since it opened eight years ago. During this time, the company has consolidated its activity in the region with a cumulative investment of €10 million, which has enabled it to build a solid base of talent, knowledge, and technological capabilities.

Its track record during this time also includes a commitment to the business fabric of La Rioja, with the aim of turning local SMEs into data-driven businesses. This approach means that data is at the heart of the business strategy, as the basis for improving efficiency, productivity, decision-making, and competitiveness.

Proof of this is its collaboration with NeuronUP, the leading cognitive rehabilitation and stimulation platform, which has been awarded SME of the Year 2025 in La Rioja for its commitment to innovation and impact on the local economy. SDG Group and NeuronUP have joined forces to integrate Generative Artificial Intelligence into their neurorehabilitation platform, which has drastically reduced the effort required by professionals to generate patient reports and facilitated clearer and more effective communication with families, even in different languages.

In addition, as part of its new roadmap, SDG Group is strengthening its commitment to the public sector with the creation in La Rioja of a center of excellence specializing in the development of artificial intelligence solutions for local public administration.

This new approach is reflected in the provision of advanced services ranging from tender management and institutional modernization programs to collaborative digitization initiatives, thus consolidating the company's commitment to the technological transformation of the public sector in La Rioja.

Roots, distributed talent, and commitment to employability

With more than 80 professionals already operating in the region, SDG Group aims to reach 180 skilled jobs by 2030. The strategy combines dual training, agreements with vocational training and universities, attracting STEM profiles, and bringing back talent that has emigrated. All this is done through a decentralized work model that allows the company to operate from anywhere in La Rioja.

This approach not only combats rural depopulation, but also connects local skills with projects that have a national and international impact. “It is an opportunity for professionals to grow in their environment, without leaving their homeland,” emphasizes Miguel Romero, managing partner for innovation and technology, as well as head of SDG Group in La Rioja.

Orbitae: AI “cooked up” in La Rioja

During the institutional meeting, Orbitae, SDG Group's sub-brand specializing in artificial intelligence, was also presented. Orbitae channels the expert knowledge, technological accelerators, and prototypes of the iLab (innovation laboratories), many of which are developed in La Rioja with local talent. “Our goal is to triple our turnover in artificial intelligence over the next three years. Last year alone, we grew by 56% in this area, which allows us to plan this growth plan with ambition and confidence, with La Rioja as one of the key hubs in its development,” said Miguel Romero.
