About the Hack2Build Initiative
The Hack2Build program is a 7-day rapid prototyping initiative designed for SAP partners to conceptualize and develop innovative applications leveraging SAP Business Data Cloud and SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP).
Throughout the program, participants receive expert coaching to transform ideas into working prototypes, ranging from advanced analytics scenarios to intelligent applications and AI agents, aimed at solving complex business problems across industries.
Tackling Critical Challenges in Oil & Gas
During the competition, SDG Group Middle East developed Rig-Guard, an AI-powered application designed to address one of the most critical challenges in the oil & gas industry: unplanned equipment failure.
With downtime costs ranging between $45,000 and $60,000 per hour, and manual response cycles averaging up to 48 hours, the need for predictive and automated solutions is more urgent than ever.
Rig-Guard introduces a smarter, faster approach by:
- Consolidating historical non-productive time (NPT) data and real-time sensor inputs (temperature, pressure, vibration) into a unified data foundation on SAP BDC
- Leveraging machine learning models on SAP Databricks to predict potential failures before they occur
- Triggering agentic workflows via SAP Build Process Automation to move from insight to action
The solution dynamically adapts its response:
- Above 95% confidence → fully autonomous intervention
- Below 95% confidence → human-in-the-loop decision-making
The result: faster response, reduced downtime, and protected revenue.
