Data-readiness in Pharma & Healthcare Industry

It's a fact that Big Data trends shift rapidly. According to an International Data Corporation (IDC) report that evaluates global data readiness by sector, the most revealing impact is that Healthcare is primed to become the fastest growing sector in terms of Big Data volume.

The study estimates that Healthcare Data it will grow faster than Manufacturing; Financial Services, or Media and Entertainment. All the Healthcare providers as well, Pharma and Healthcare suppliers will experience a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 36% through 2025.

The challenge in the next few years will be how to properly use Big Data in order to support this scale.

Key-Challenges:

  • Advancements in Analytics Tools
  • Medical imaging, patient devices
  • Chatbots and virtual assistants
  • Real-time data to help clinical decision-making

 All these key topics emerge from the need of having a centralized data for analysis and diagnosis, as well, for Supplier Management (purchase and stock of materials and devices). 

The centralized data approach will be the most valuable need for Healthcare Providers. This could be a challenge or an advantage for sales teams that anticipate the incorporation of a Data-Driven approach to their sales strategy.

It is essential to improve data management capabilities in order to keep pace in a digital landscape.

The amount of Data continues to increase, and it becomes a challenge to be able to access and interpret it in real-time. The study suggests that organizations need to invest in blockchain, analytics tools, and professional assistance to close this digital transformation gap.
