“Big data” rather than “big architecture”
The continuous increase of the flow of information requires always more technologies to manage and analize "big data".
Starting from this point of view, we can follow different strategies: on the more traditional BI side, the main vendors are struggling to propose solutions able to process billions of records.
A first front is represented by the appliances, a combination of properly balanced hardware and software, to optimize performance, maximize the available computing power and at the same time minimizing the cost of IT management.
On the other side, some vendors are shifting attention to in memory database, with similar performance and almost perfect scalability.
Another innovation concerns the newest face of BI: crossing social media, social intelligence and analysis of Web reputation, which are becoming increasingly important for all companies in all industries.
The evolution of the Web, the continuous sharing of any type of content, feedback on products and services provided by the users themselves are changing the way of analyzing the market.
Hence the need to have Business Intelligence tools able to monitor the Web and extract a set of discrete and synthetic information from an unstructured and continuous flow, which can be correlated with the quantitative information that can already be found in corporate databases.
SDG Business Unit for Collaborative Intelligence Integration springs up from this need of convergence and - through this blog - we want to share with you all the next evolutions. I will get back soon with more update on this topic!
